Welcome to "It Must Be Summer"

"It Must Be Summer" is back for Comfest 2013.

Started five years ago by toph and John, the group blog returns for its sixth year for Comfest 2013. Time flies. In the spirit of community that is essential to Comfest, here is a place to share your Comfest thoughts, memories, and experiences. We look forward to seeing, reading, or watching (iPhone video is STILL a dangerous and beautiful thing) whatever you'd like to share here.

If you are reading this and you didn't receive an invite to post and would like to contribute, leave a comment and John or toph will get you added.

We'll see you on the grass in the park.

Breakdown

The end is here

another Comfest draws to a close, another year of waiting begins...

One last game of Chess

As the band strikes its final chords, Jason and Ben play a final game
of chess...

Last of the Blue Hawaiian

Swag

Happy Comfest-Tara!

A last minute challenge

Dwindling...

Dan with Jeni's...

...and a petit. Because when you think ice cream, you think cigar.

Last Band of 2009

another one bites the dust...

And then Lise took off... Who knows when we'll see the girl from
Chicago again?

And Jarod and Cami turn in...

The attendees continue to fall like dominoes...

As are...

...Ben and Tara.

Dan and Ellen are...

...hanging tough.

Busiest Sunday John and I can remember

There are a LOT of people for a Sunday... Almost feels like a
Saturday! (except for the Blue Hawaiians...)

First departures...

Slay and Acacia have called it a fest.

Oooops, pretzels!

Soon I find...

...I'm searching for the exit from the ground.

Good dawg, Raven

The Aliens are Coming

But Dan and I are protected from their evil mind rays by our Illusione
MJ12 wrappers!

Guarding off the Aliens

For Ellen

There you go.

Free hugs...

...in action.

And we're back...

...ready for Day 3.

Jason and the hash browns

The battle of the century! Who's winning?

Comfest Hula

Love that iPhone video....

Headed for eBay...

One well-loved Herf-a-dor, filled with spectacular cigars.

Day 2 Tally

- Down 4 bottles of Cabo (except for a little Johngarita left...)
- Broke 1 chair
- Broke 1 pair of unclaimed sunglasses (see last night)

Dead soldiers

They valiantly gave themselves to the cause of Comfest weekend. Salud!

Day 2 is in the books...

...and Jill is prepping for Day 3 because she's that awesome.

The late-night antics continue

and the party rolls on and on and on!

Liz is here

She finally showed up!

More friends...

Ben & Tara returned and Chris & Michelle joined us!

Seth is Hungry...

who would have guessed?

Gobble gobble ...

A is for...

Ass-big cigar.

Return of the A's

Rory and an A

too cute

Seth and Raven have settled
down for a nap... but Raven had to have her paw draped over Rachel's
foot to be totally comfortable...

So I'm sitting here...

...thinking this band is doing its best Watershed impression and then
they actually play a Watershed song. Turns out it's Colin from
Watershed and his new band. Who knew?

Terry joins the smoking area

Welcome Terry to Comfest all the way from DC!

Welsh family at Comfest

you think they know...

that Comfest is going on around them?

There's a hot chick behind me isn't there?

David finds the funnel cakes

Tatuaje Hats and Forbidden Island sticks

Start them young!

Jason says it's best to start the children young on chess... Makes
them better competitors later <grin>

too cute

Even Santa comes to Comfest

why aren't you here???

Representing the '614'

Johngarita in the house

Dan going after the big fish

sour gummy worms and Johngarita go together surprisingly well....

The kidz are pimping

Day Two, the joy continues!

It is day 2 of Comfest.... Jason, John, and I got up at 10:30,
chucked the overnight French Toast that Jill had thoughtfully provided
into the oven and got ready for the day.

Jason went to get is more ice while I made the bacon. We geared up
and between the the three of us carried down 3 blankets and 7 chairs.
We snagged a spot in the shade and then I quickly lost a game of chess
to Jason ( to fill my quota for the year <grin> ).

Now the Johngaritas are flowing, Dan and Ellen showed up, and the band
on stage is making fine use of Steel Drums to make Saturday start out
right!

Come Join Us!

Day 1 tally

- Down 4 bottles of Cabo

And we're back...

...ready for round 2!!!
